I downloaded Firefox 3, but I still felt sad.

After hours of waiting, I finally downloaded Firefox 3 from here:

Nevertheless, I still felt very disappointed. Mozilla, sigh.....

And this post is written with Firefox 3. Call it a love-hate relationship, but I still prefer Firefox to IE, no matter what.

Firefox 3 download page is down =(

Firefox 3 is SUPPOSED to be released at 1pm EDT on 17th June, 2008, that translates into 1am on 18th June, 2008 at my side. That means I had to stay up all night just to download it. Stay up I did, because 1) I love Firefox. 2) I pledged. 3) I want to be part of the world record.

But when 1pm came, the official download page went down!!! What a ingenious way to explain to us the meaning of DOWNload! And what a great start to break a world record! I'm not complaining. But Mozilla does seem a bit unprepared for its own party. After creating all the buzz online, I can't believe Mozilla failed to fulfil its promise.

I have no doubt that Firefox 3 will still be able to set a world record (since there is no previous world record anyway), and I will still be able to download Firefox 3 within the next 24 hours (because I don't want to think otherwise), and Firefox 3 will push Firefox's market share even further (because I hate IE). But for all those faithful Firefox fans who waited all morning, or in my case all night, this delay is still a huge letdown.

I am disappointed. Very disappointed.

2:00pm EDT. One hour after the promised release time, the download page is still down.

At around 2:01pm EDT. I received this email from spreadfirefox.com

"Today you'll make history with Firefox

That means the release time is indeed 17:00 UTC (13:00 EDT) June 17, 2008!

2:19 EDT. Mozilla blog posted an explanation-cum-apology.

"The outpouring of interest and enthusiasm around Firefox 3 has been overwhelming (literally!). Our servers are currently feeling the burn and should be back to normal shortly. Download day will officially commence once the site goes live. The 24 hours period will be clocked from that moment. Thanks for your continued support."

2:37 EDT. I am going to bed. Still no download available. Firefox, I am starting to hate you. =(
